What’s the best way to get around town in PARIS?: The Metro
We had lots on our list from a great book about Paris I brought with me and some referrals from friends. We had our schedule, maps, GPS directions and much better footwear. The weather had dropped substantially. Now it felt like fall. The big sites that day was Notre Dame and The Louvre (and everything in between). We walked it all again which in hindsight we should have taken the Velib bikes. Like Amsterdam they are public use transportation all over the city. Paris is tougher to get around by car because of all the one way streets and round-abouts. We managed to recognoiter ourselves around by the Metro. It’s actually a pretty simple system to use. I would suggest to NOT travel it during rush hour unless you like the feeling of being pressed up on by french speaking strangers.
WHATS THE BEST WAY TO GET AROUND HAVANA ?: COCO TAXI
These little vehicles are actually a three wheeled moped with a giant helmut. They drive rather fast but it’s fun and easy way to get around town if you want to stop and take photos.
THE BEST WAY TO GET AROUND NY ? YELLOW CAB
Don’t be surprised if a NY cab drops you off two blocks before your destination because it’s inconvenient for them. Happened to me. Best way to catch a cab…. lie when they ask where you are going. Tell them somewhere far then once you are in tell them where you really are going.
